The Bay Bridge will remain closed on Monday 11/2/2009. Workers tested the repairs that were done on Saturday and the tests failed. Workers have been working day and night to fix the bridge. The last time this happened was during the major Loma Prieta earthquake in 1989. The bridge closure makes people coming from Oakland and the surrounding East Bay areas have to drive huge distances just to get to San Francisco.
Alternate bridges to take from the East Bay would be the San Mateo Bridge or the Dumbarton Bridge. But these routes would take a very long time just to make it to San Francisco. BART is increasing the trains running to and from San Francisco.
