Black people need to build net worth and not just get jobs to maintain lifestyles. You can have a household income of $100,000 per year and own your own residence but have a personal net worth
of only $25,000 if you do not have equity in either your own business or multiple properties. Again, I am not making light of this and making it sound easy to build your net worth. This is a life long
type of thing and takes time to build. You should plan on spending at least 10 years on building your net worth and hopefully, it would be good to create some sort of goal and attempt to reach a personal net worth of $1 Million in a ten year period.

Please separate your income from net worth. If you make $50,000 per year for ten years you will go through $500,000 in that ten years. If you do not own your home you would virtually have no
net worth. If you do not own a business, you have no net worth. If you own your home for five years and it cost you $100,000 and is now worth $150,000. You would have $50,000 net worth. If you take out a second for $25,000, your net worth decreases to $25,000.

If you buy ten more homes in 3 years for $100,000 and each appreciates to $125,000 in 5 years, your net worth would be $25,000 times 10 homes or $250,000. Net worth in the long run is
more valuable than hard income. It becomes passive income and will eventually allow you to live your life without having to earn hard income from a job each day, 5 days per week. If you do this for 30 years and your ten homes mature and get paid off to where they are free and clear by the time you turn 60 years old, you would retire with over $2 Million in equity and can live your retired years very good and without having to rely on Social Security for income.

The Black Mans Emergency Survival Kit

As steel sharpens steel, men sharpen men

I used to attend Muslim meetings at Your Black Muslim Bakery on San Pablo Avenue in Oakland, CA with Adisa Banjoko and Dr. Bey used to always say “As steel sharpens steel, men sharpen men and vice versa for women.” I agree.

As the world has been literally shocked with the violent death related news of several black men, I thought it prudent to come out and help tell our black men how to stay out of morgues, jails, and prisons.

Black Men Beware of beautiful prisons designed just for US.

Black Men Beware of beautiful prisons designed just for US.

First of all, when an encounter or beef starts to escalate, we men handle it differently than women. Black women can get in each others face and not let it escalate. We do NOT handle in your face tactics. If someone gets in your face and challenges you, walk away. Do not retaliate. Do not buck up. Do not start screaming and yelling. This helps you stay alive to live another day.

Learn to know when to buck up and when to walk. Most encounters happen because of our male ego and especially as black men. We typically don’t want anyone seeming superior to us so we will act a fool when someone decides to get loud or challenge our manhood. Again, know when to walk away. Not every situation requires you to prove you’re the man. Sometimes being the man is swallowing your pride and walking away. Learn to control your anger or it will completely DOMINATE YOU.

If it appears as though someone is ready to take out a knife and start a battle with you, even if you have a gun, walk away. You don’t need to kill them and take their life. You are setting in motion something that you know nothing about. Walk away even if you feel confident with your .44 Magnum locked and loaded. This does not make you a man and determine your power. You will be headed for a 25 years to life bid in the big house.

Know that violence is not always the answer to every black mans problem. Just because you may be having a hard time and some one crosses you, you do not need to resort to violence. Solve this by learning to come to peace with who you are as a man. Run into the church and get your spirit washed and cleansed. Get healed of anything that makes you feel inferior or like you can’t achieve your dreams.

Find another black man and talk to him about how you feel. Find him at bible study or find him at the church, mosque, masjid, temple, or somewhere in a spiritual or educational environment. He is out there waiting to help.

How To Be Rich, Nicca – The Come Up – Part Deuce

I would meet Master P, JT the Bigga Figga, E-40, Rappin 4-Tay, Coco Quick, and a lot of cats who would go down to Phunky Phat to get their CD cover art work

I would hire Underwood Works to do all of my graphics and go there almost 2-3 times per week to proof the work that they would do. I would pay for my designs out of my paycheck from my job that I had working in downtown Oakland, CAon 22nd and Webster at Shared Medical Systems. When I would show up at Underwood Works, which would eventually become known as Phunky Phat Graph-X, I would meet niggas that would be trying to do the same thing as me and be independent and push their music out to the world.

I would meet Master P, JT the Bigga Figga, E-40, Rappin 4-Tay, Coco Quick, and a lot of cats who would go down to Phunky Phat to get their CD cover art work, posters, and other graphics work done by Phunky Phat Graph-X. I would go on to see first hand the work that was taken to build and grow No Limit Records that the world now knows today as earning and grossing over $250 Million dollars.

When we were all coming up though, nobody even dreamed of being able to make it up as high as No Limit has. Master P was struggling to get things together just as we all were. He was living up in Richmond, CA which is a crazy environment and even the record store that he had up there was in the cut. He and I also sold music to Ts Waiuzi Record Store in East Oakland near Eastmont Mall. Again, no one knew that people would blow up the way some folks did. The point is that everyone was striving and driving to move ahead regardless of their situation. We didn’t care if we didn’t have the
money or the banks wouldn’t loan us any cash to move our company’s ahead. We didn’t care if we didn’t have enough money to get the thing looking excellent from day one.

P rounded up his brothers and launched The Real Untouchables after a bullshit deal with Jason Blaine over at InaMinute Records up in Emeryville, CA. I knew Jason Blaine from a
function that Lachlan McIntyre, owner of 4080 Magazine threw in Berkeley. Lachlan was also trying to come up and created a hip-hop magazine that focused on hard core West Coast Hip Hop.

Black Geurilla Family Lessons

Don’t ever say you can’t learn anything from a fool or prisoner. The Black Geurilla Family was started in 1966 by Mr. George Jackson to protect black prisoners. While some prisoners have committed heinous crimes of an unspeakable nature, you can learn serious business tips from them.

Mr. Jackson first created a logo and a symbol of his team and organization. He created a clear mission statement: “eradicate racism, struggle to maintain dignity in prison, and overthrow the United States government”. Yes, the last part is crazy and delusional but do not miss the business value in what he did.

He organized his mission and then began to organize his team and mobilize his forces. He wrote down his clear mission statement so that it would be easier to share amongst his team and recruits. He was passionate even at a time of great pressure, anger, frustration, mental jail, and physical lock down. He was desperate and depressed. Through his desperation, he fought through it to organize himself and have a clear direction and clear strategy. Even in prison he wrote a business plan, worked the plan, tweaked the plan, and recruited a loyal following without any money at all.

The Black Guerilla Family is one of the strongest prison gangs in America. If you are in prison and you are an African American male, you would want to be a part of the team or suffer the consequences. This is the same in this economy and recession. You must do one of two things: either develop a strong team witih a clear mission statement and recruit loyal members, or become a part of a strong team with a clear mission statement and strong members.

Your gang will help you navigate through turbulent waters and tumultuous times. It will help you through difficulty and pain when you don’t know where to turn. This is what the BGF stands and stood for. You cannot sit on an island not knowing what to do. Just as in prison, you will get shanked, killed, and will not last long at all without being on a strong team and being an asset to that team. Disclaimer: I am not advocating that you jump into a prison gang and start gangbanging. I speak to prisoners to help reform them and teach that they must do similar to what they did inside the prison walls but legitimately.

Find a strong team member or mentor just like a gang leader. The gang leader should have a mission and a plan to mobilize and get moving. Listen and learn and grow but most importantly, do not be isolated and not speaking to your La Familia. Just as a true gang does, they listen to the persons problems. You always have a trusted soldier on your team and true successful gangs are extremely loyal. They do not flip and turn on their gang. If they do, a death oath is imminent. Business is not that serious but find a mentor and find a new team to learn and grow from. This is paramount to your success and your personal success.

The concert promotion industry is very shady. In fact, back in the day hip hop group A Tribe Called Quest had one of the most prolific and well known verses in all of the hip hop “Industry Rule Number 4080, record company people are shady”. This main rule is really talking about concert promotions, club promoters, and anyone associated with bringing artists to a city.

There are war stories from artists in dealing with promoters who brought them out to a venue, they rocked the club or concert, and never got paid. There are more stories of this occurrence than not. So, in a shark eat shark world of concert promotions, how did Lil Wayne gross $42 Million in this economy? One team with a vision and rock solid performance – Sports Entertainment and Financial Group out of Philadelphia, PA. The company has a long history of success and financial management and is run and managed by two financial industry heavyweight champions, Shawn Gee and Charles “Tank” Harris.

Prior to this Mr. Gee worked for CitiGroup (NY) in its Private Client Division. The youngest VP in his sector, Mr. Gee firmly established a strong reputation as he managed a widely diversified portfolio of high net worth clientele, those of greater than $5 million in assets. He received his MBA, with a concentration in Finance and Investments, from George Washington University in 1997 and is a member of the National Black MBA Association.

Charles “Tank” Harris graduated from Temple University in 1995 with a BBA in Finance. Shortly after graduation, Mr. Harris took a position with Salomon Smith Barney as a Series 7 registered representative. After amassing over $100 million in client assets, he moved to UBS Financial Services in 2000. Realizing that the majority of his client base was athletes, Charles founded Athletic Business Management, Inc. in 2001, with the intent of addressing the varied business and financial needs of his unique client base. Charles currently resides in Cherry Hill, NJ with his wife Dana and their five daughters.

Business Tips From The Batters Box

In today’s world, business is much like standing up at the plate in the batter’s box. If you’re not familiar with standing at a plate looking in the eyes of an opposing pitcher, it’s nothing easy. In today’s world, business is much like standing up at the plate in the batter’s box. If you’re not familiar with standing at a plate looking in the eyes of an opposing pitcher, it’s nothing easy. Similar to our economic climate right now, the whole process of being in the batter’s box is unpredictable.

When you stand up to the plate, you cannot make any assumptions and try to guess at what a pitcher is going to throw you. You cannot guess that it’s going to be a fastball, slider, curve ball, or change up. You need a tremendous amount of confidence just to stand up to the plate. Sound familiar? Similar to looking for a job or growing your business enterprise, you need to be confident despite being uncertain of what type of pitch you are going to get.

When I stand up to the plate in my baseball league, I am scared to death. By looking at me, nobody ever knows it. They have no idea that my knees are nearly shaking and I feel nervous coming to the plate. But in this nervousness, I feel confident at the same time. This is the same for your business or job search. It’s unnerving to continue to have to grow a small business enterprise. You don’t know where or when your next customer will buy your product or service but you have to move in confidence and know that someone will buy soon. You’ve got to keep heading to the plate. Even if you strike out 3 times, the 4th at bat might just get you on base and help you to score.

If you’re feeling uncertain about your business, hold tight. Keep swinging and keep marketing and selling yourself and/or your business. Don’t listen to any hype of what the market is doing in Atlanta. You have to just stay focused on the goal at hand and keep striving and pressing on. You will eventually hit the ball and return yourself back to a stronger position.

Why Everyone Needs A Business Right Now

Register a business and save money on taxes each year.

Spinks Better Stronger Faster

Believe in Yourself

Even if you are working at a job, I encourage every one in America to at least register a company as a Limited Liability Corporation (LLC) and have a company for tax purposes. It benefits you greatly because you can take a standard deduction of around $4,000 on your tax form Schedule C each year at tax time and it saves YOU money. So, let’s say you have income from your job of $38,000 per year. When you file your taxes you will enter the information from your W2 on your tax form but also use a Schedule C and take a standard deduction of around $4,000 which reduces your tax liability and puts money in your pocket.

As per usual, consult your tax dude in your city but you can do it. Don’t wait. Even if you are NOT selling anything, register a business and reduce your tax liability. You will have to pay annually to keep the business registered but this should not exceed more than $100 each year to keep it running.

Prosperity Now – The AforeMath

Many people can start stuff, few can finish. Become a finisher and you live your dreams.

How To Be Rich, Nigga by Gerard D. Spinks

“Everything you desire is trying to happen to you – and it will begin happening to you the moment you learn to say “Yes!” to things and conditions that have not yet come into reality”. That quote is from my church in Oakland, California. It would be good to get into the practice of saying a positive affirmation on prosperity each and every day. Because we were convinced through some organizations in our past that “money is the root of all evil” most of us have strategically pushed prosperity away from us due to this thinking. People that prosper do not wait until the afterlife to get Gods’ prosperity. God wants us to all prosper while we are on this planet earth today.

It takes a tremendous amount of courage to believe in yourself, pursue your dreams, and prosper. It is easier for me to just go to work every day and come home and complain about my job than it is for me to believe in myself and push forward to be creative, create my own plan for success, and deal with the toughness of running my own ship. You must be creative, innovative, and believe that whatever you do and create has a purpose because you have a purpose.

You are here for an exact reason and God would not have allowed you to come here on this planet without some purpose of being. It may not necessarily be to get filthy rich but it may be that you use your God given talent to help inspire the next person or make your designer hats that you have always wanted to make and share this with someone else. Again, you are here for a specific reason and purpose. Find that reason, cultivate it, and protect your thoughts and dreams along the way. Many people can start stuff, few can finish. Become a finisher and you live your dreams.

The Small Business Guide To Page Rank

All small businesses need to compete for web traffic just like any other big business.

All small businesses need to compete for web traffic just like any other big business. Big businesses can out pay the smaller business when it comes to bidding on search engine keywords. My Alexa Page Rank 1 year ago for websites in the United States was around 7,000,000. What does this mean? This means that roughly 7,000,000 websites registered in the United States had more traffic than my website. Agreed. My website was well below average and was receiving about 2-3 web visitors per day who would stay on my site for about 10 seconds and leave.

In June 2010, we have a United States Alexa Page Rank of 70,000. This means that now only 70,000 websites have more traffic and authority than we do. We jumped over 7,000,000 websites in 350 days. We are now headed to push towards a rank of 1,000 to 2,000 in the United States. Right now, we don’t care about the world. We care about being the best here in our home country of the United States and not spreading out so far too quickly.

How does a small practice do this? How do you send your page rank to the stratosphere? After careful review and study, I had to find out how to do this and not listen to all the so called gurus telling you that you need to buy link backs in order to increase your page rank. The higher the page rank the more you will get visitors when you use niche keywords when advertising. Google considers you an authority by how many quality web sites link to your site. They give no credence to these auto generated websites that take your site and link to it. Google and I consider these sites as spam sites.

So, what I did to increase and outpace 6.5 Million other sites is this: I went to Alexa and found out which writing and publishing websites have a Page Rank in the Top 10. These were WordPress.com, EzineArticles.com, Examiner.com, and Blogger.com. Because Google sees them as reputable I would need a way to have these sites or articles link to my site to improve my rank. I did what every hard core entrepreneur would do with this challenge: got busy writing. I wrote 30 articles on Ezinearticles.com. I wrote 30+ articles on my Examiner.com publishing site. I wrote 105 articles on my WordPress.com site.

I wrote 30 articles here on my blog. All in all, I published over 200 articles from these reputable sources creating over 500 reputable linkbacks from those sites to my site. This pushed me up over 6.5 Million others because of the volume of work and links from reputable sources.

Google also weighs heavily original content. They look at how often your site has been published and rank you accordingly just like a human being would. You would never go back to a site that has the same old boring content after a week. The Google robot operates the same way. And, as far as keywords go, just write naturally. You don’t need to try and figure out how many keywords to place on your website. The Google robot looks at natural writing and determines what’s on your page and if it appears human generated. If it determines that an automatic tool generated the content, the robot bypasses your page.

Keep Your Dreams Alive

The risks inherent in NOT changing is more dangerous in this economy than the risk of changing.

How To Be Rich, Nigga by Gerard D. Spinks

How To Be Rich, Nigga by Gerard D. Spinks

Despite any obstacles, keep your dreams alive. There will be setbacks that are a natural course of wealth building. You cannot reach wealth without setbacks. It is literally impossible. A natural part of the wealth building process is character testing. You will be confronted with countless things that will test your character from relationship breakups, court proceedings, bankruptcy, family issues and so on.

Regardless of all the things that can happen to you, the wealth builder will keep fighting on and will not stop. You may have to hit pause temporarily due to some hiccup but do not ever stop doing your thing.

You may decide that one project is not successful to pursue, but change up and be flexible. Try to commit enough time though to a project and give it the time and energy that it needs to be successful. A lot of people have a difficult time with change but if something is truly not working at all, you must change it. Don’t listen to anybody who tells you to fear change. Like all of our parents told us “Change is the only constant in this world of ours.” The risks inherent in NOT changing is more dangerous in this economy than the risk of changing.
