Yes, this is a play on words but on the reals and strictly from a diet standpoint, you should be having two bowel movements each day at least. If you are not taking two number two’s each day, you do NOT have enough fiber or fruit in your diet and you need to correct this immediately. Think about it logically for a minute: if you’re taking in 3-4 meals per day full of carbohydrates, yeast/bread, sugar, and fat you need to get rid of some of this each day.

If you are eating and not having any of that food come out of your belly and your colon, this is a problem. Many people who look like they have what people coin a “beer belly” actually may have a bloated colon from lack of waste moving out of the body. This lack of taking a shyt can in turn cause all types of other shyt to happen and form in your body.

Every morning like clockwork, stop eating McDonalds and Chick Fil A breakfast sandwiches and replace that meal alone with a fruit bowl. In your fruit bowl, make sure it has grapes, pineapples, strawberries, and bananas. Just focus on this one meal at first to start getting your colon to start getting rid of waste.

A real, not perceived, attribute of leadership is the ability to protect and defend your self, physically from attack. Self defense is a vital part of self preservation. Self preservation is a vital part of leadership. You cannot lead, if you can get squashed out on the ave and put in a casket inadvertently by some sucka.

Are you in shape to take on a personal attack if someone were to assault you on the ave? Seriously? I’m not kidding. Being a leader means that you stay in physical shape to ward off physical and environmental attacks on your person. I don’t mean that you become overly aggressive and start attacking people. I mean if someone rolled up on you, are you in good physical condition to take them on, defeat them, and protect yourself and your family?

This is very important. I need my leaders to stay in shape, physically. I need you to stay both strong and flexible. Flexibility is used in the event that you are attacked and taken to the ground. If you blow/pull a hamstring during the attack due to being tight, you can be defeated and/or killed in battle. Do NOT let this happen to you. Additionally, keep your abs and middle section/core strong to be able to absorb body blows if someone were to punch you in the abdomen.

Each night, or at least three times per week, you should combine strength training with flexibility and cardio to strengthen the skeletal system, the muscles, and increase your flexibility. Always be ready if something were to jump off in the streets. Don’t be paranoid, just be ready. While people getting shot are on the news, most crooks and people that prey on the innocent attack those that appear weaker in stature than themselves. It’s ok to appear weak but to BE physically strong is a whole other ballgame. If attacked, turn into the aggressor, turn the game around, and physically accost your perpetrator. This, and only this, changes peoples opinions about trying to hurt and/or attack people.

This is NOT a game. Be ready to be able to sprint in the event that someone were chasing you and you had to get away to save your actual life. Keep your body strong in the event that you were put in a crazy situation where you needed to be physical. Many times, we in America, have relaxed and think nothing physical would be demanded of us until we are put in that situation. Be ready. Better, stronger, faster. Do it now.

It is equally mind boggling to see that all of these fast food places are making billions of dollars in revenue as human beings get sicker, fatter, and die sooner than ever. I read a study the other day that said that most cancers that are in the human body now start from what we eat.

Basically, processed foods are killing off the human race and giving us disease, death, and lifelong ailments. But, how does one counteract all of this since we are bombarded with messages each and every minute on every single television channel showing us that these are our lunch and dinner options for not only us but for our kids as well. We microwave everything and just have the kids come home from school and grab a micro waved burrito or tater tots and that’s after the school lunch already gave that to them.

We then head to lunch and go to McDonald’s, Wendy’s, fast Chinese Food, Five Guys Burgers, etc. This is not helping us and is aiding to our demise. What has to happen to reverse this and help us lose weight and get on track is the proper nutrition. This is really the secret to losing weight and the shake weight will not do anything for you if you have a breakfast sandwich from McDonald’s each and every morning like clockwork.

The solution is to add fruit to your diet and subtract fast food. Each morning, instead of a breaded sandwich with pork, buy fruit for breakfast. At lunch, decrease your portion of food and have healthy snacks periodically throughout the day so that your body is not on starve mode. For dinner, make grilled tilapia with steamed rice and vegetables or grilled chicken breast with vegetables. Do not eat after 9 pm, ever.

If I want to lose weight in 2011, I must write down where I’m at today. I’m 6 ft 215 pounds right now as I write this sentence. I know this. I must get down to 200 pounds by February 28, 2011. Everyday, I have a journal of what I must do and it pops up on my phone as a calendar entry reminding me every single day at the time I must go to the gym.

The same thing holds true for income goals or even home ownership goals. If I want to make more income, I have to write down a daily plan to achieve that. Break it down and micromanage yourself and your tasks. What do I need to do this week to accomplish this? What’s in my control to do this each week and each day? What do I need to learn and whom do I need to contact this week to reach higher and reach my goals?

Improving yourself starts with self analysis and ends with action. It then starts with writing down what you need to accomplish to make that improvement a reality and it what time frame. It then requires patience and not beating yourself up over the result or supposed lack of result. Most people will stop because the results don’t immediately show up by the end of the week. Give yourself time to let the action marinate and take hold. And remember, if your goal is anything that has to do with weight loss, be sure to examine what’s going in your mouth each day and what time.

There are actually three body types that humans are born with: ectomorph, mesomorph, and endomorph. I will put these in terms of athletes that illustrate the body types very well.

There are actually three body types that humans are born with: ectomorph, mesomorph, and endomorph. I will put these in terms of athletes that illustrate the body types very well. An ectomorph is a NBA basketball player or marathon runner. Ectomorphs are born with extreme lean muscle mass and are very thin. They typically have a hard time gaining weight and don’t make good traditional football players at all because of the thin frame.

A mesomorph is a compact muscle bound person who is typically a NFL football type of body type. A mesomorphs natural body frame looks like Mark Ingram of Alabama Crimson Tide, Emmitt Smith formerly of the Dallas Cowboys and Julius Peppers. It is extremely easy for a naturally born mesomorph to build muscle. As soon as a mesomorph starts to lift free weights, they start to take muscle form immediately. Their muscles feed off of weight training naturally.

An endomorph is someone like a NFL lineman who is naturally a big person who carries more fat tissue and it is easy for him or her to grow fat. If you are an endomorph, it will be tougher for you to lose weight that you might make as a New Year resolution unless you truly modify your nutrition and diet. I have also known people that in college were mesomorphs and their bodies changed at the age of 30 and they morphed into endomorphs. Endomorphs can eat anything that contains fat and it will make them gain weight.

A good example of an endomorph and how tough it is for an endomorph with food is Albert Haynesworth of the Washington Redskins. Albert Haynesworth came into camp heavy because he doesn’t know how to control his diet and he is an endomorph by birth. Because he is an endomorph, he not only needs a trainer but he needs a nutritionist to help him understand his body type and his eating habits based upon his body type.

Ok folks. It’s time to get prepared to have a great 2011 year full of good health. In this regard, I am launching the Health Challenge to all of my readers. Why? Because we need to all know our health and be conscious of how we are living, eating, and working out. This challenge is the way to keep everyone responsible for their health and fitness goals for 2011. It starts now, this week. Here’s what I need you to do:

1). Go to the doctor and get your blood pressure checked and get an overall physical. It’s free at Walgreens Care Clinics to at least get your blood pressure checked.

2). We are starting out on cardio with 100 minutes per week. You must log this each time your at the gym and email me with the results on my contact form here on my website. So, if you’re doing 30 minutes of cardio each day, email me the results each day or send me a text message with a picture of the end cardio time.

3). Nutrition: Log what you put in your mouth each day and send it to me via email. No matter what it is, write it down and send it to me.

4). Start Monday December 20, 2010. No excuses. Just go for it.

Why Recess Should Be Put Back Into Schools ASAP!

Today, our kids are not getting exercise setting them up for continued health issues and a dying America.

I was doing homework with my daughter yesterday and she had a homework assignment for doing a debate. She had to define her issue or the side she was on, be able to handle a rebuttal, and create a closing resolution to this. Hers happened to be on a topic dear to my heart: RECESS. In Atlanta Georgia area schools, they are now not having recess due to the schools hunger and thirst to continue getting funded and keep up their CRCT school test scores. The CRCT is a test for all Georgia schools to determine how well the administration is doing by testing the student body. The better the scores, the more funding the schools get.

This is all fine but it has created a terrible backlash for American school kids. America is already a fat country. Fast food and sluggishness permeate everything that Americans do. We sit at desks all day, then come home and sit down, then go to sleep without barely moving a muscle every day. This is literally killing America. Now, they want to go even further and have the kids take after an overinflated American adult population by imitating everything adults do. When I was a kid, we had 3 recesses. My daughter couldn’t believe it and thought I was joking her. No, I’m not kidding. We had a morning recess, went to lunch and ate and right after that had a recess, and then a 10 minute afternoon recess.

Today, our kids are not getting exercise setting them up for continued health issues and a dying America. Americans are dying much quicker and at much younger ages than we used to and you can pretty much trace this back to a culture of uninspired and unathletic youth. The message is to focus on school and not focus on the physical but this is dangerous. We did the homework and completed the task because I was so passionate about this but this must change. I vote for RECESS in American schools, NOW!

I’ve been seeing a lot of women complain about men and being out of shape. For all men, this is completely unacceptable. First of all, no woman should ever be the one telling a dude about himself. I know this is somewhat sexist and women respond because dudes always have something to say about a females shape, however, MAN UP! In a world that’s full of chaos, struggle, lack of jobs and income and everything else, it’s time to get a reprieve from all the madness and workout.

I must admit that I do see a lot of dudes with these so called man breasts and it is not a good look. Listen up men and follow me on this. Here’s a list to cure this crazy madness and have your woman be proud of you. Believe it or not, women like a man who is in shape and who other women like to look at. Women like a man who has a nice physique and a great body, smile, look and everything that we like in a woman. Here’s what to do to cure this problem that seems incurable:

1). Everyday get up and do 20 pushups. This will help to start to firm up the major and minor pectoral muscles. Just do 20 to start with and gradually build up to doing 5 sets of 20 reps per day.

2). Everyday, do 20 free hand squats if you are not around weights. Do the same as above and lead up to 5 sets of 20 reps.

3). Run or walk 2 miles every other day. On Monday, Wednesday, and Friday go running even if you hate it. If it is tough to run, walk but do it regardless of what you’re going through.

4). This is the most important and hardest part of it all: nutrition. In order to remove these breasts, you must reduce the fat on your body. Reducing this fat has two components: nutrition and resistance training to firm up the muscle as you replace the fat. So, you must stop consuming greasy and fried foods and stop drinking sugar based drinks.

5). Once you get past these easy exercises in step 1 and 2 above, you must start doing resistance training again. Flat bench and incline bench press workouts work the best for firming up both the major and minor pec muscles. Always bench press with dumbbells or use the smith rack to do this. Flat bench press with the straight bar can lead to shoulder injury so be careful. Do 3 sets of 20 reps with dumbbells on the flat bench press and likewise on the incline bench press. The key is to always do resistance training and build up the muscle mass while deleting the fat stores around the chest.

6). Get in a routine and a rhythm and you will start to really love the workout. Most importantly, this increases the blood flow in the body and increases adrenaline. It raises the heart rate and increases metabolism. The only thing the effectively does this is resistance training and weight training. You will never lose the weight if you just simply run.

7). Most importantly, have fun and get peace of mind. This leads to a long life and a wealthy life. After all, good health is wealth. You don’t want to find this out the hard way when your health is gone.

I see all these ads on TV promoting massive weight loss real fast. First of all, massive weight loss quickly does NOT exist. If it did, America would be the home of the lean muscle mass prototype warrior both male and female. Sadly, America is NOT a bastion of fitness nuts and healthy living people.

To effectively lose real weight and be in shape two things must happen in conjunction: monitor what you put in your mouth and do resistance training with weights. Running alone and cardio alone will never help you drop weight. Building muscle increases your metabolism. Cardio does NOT increase any muscle and in fact can eat away at muscle tissue. When you build muscle it will keep your metabolism high all day which in turn makes the body burn fat all day long.

The key to weight loss and trimming your body is to increase the metabolism but stop caloric intake with the wrong foods. It’s good to eat periodically during the day and have small protein based snacks throughout the day to never trigger the body to think it’s on starve. Here’s exactly what to do:

  • 1). Bench Press for your chest using dumbells
  • 2). Dumbell Press for your shoulders either standing or sitting down
  • 3). Dumbell curls for your biceps
  • 4). Close grip pushups for your triceps
  • 5). Smith rack squats for your thighs
  • 6). Hamstring curls for your hamstrings
  • 7). Calf presses for your calf muscles
