Well, all artists know that recording sessions can cost a bucket load of hard earned 9-5 job money which is why most artists record at night when rates are cheaper. Hello Music is unveiling a service that is similar to Groupon in nature, whereby artists will be offered reduced studio rates for a window of time. Interesting concept.
I still think artists should focus on selling and marketing their music independently, however because simply recording music gets you nowhere and makes you NO money at all. There is no return on investment when recording music. If you’re interested and need to save money on studio time, this is a pretty good deal though.

Proving that superstars NEVER die, Mary J. Blige was hired by a true Megatainment Super power, Dreamworks Entertainment, to record an original song on their film “The Help” which will be released in theaters on August 12, 2011.
The song, “The Living Proof,” was written and recorded by Blige especially for THE HELP after she saw a screening of the film, which takes place in 1960s-era Mississippi and chronicles the journey of three very different women who come together and embark on a secret writing project that breaks societal rules and puts them all at risk. “The beautiful thing about these women is that they were very smart,” says Blige. “They chose to walk in love and forgiveness.”
The film really celebrates the courage to inspire change, “To speak to so many women with this song means a lot to me,” says Blige. “I wanted to be involved with this film, because I think we need to encourage each other more, we are here to tell a story.”

Target Partners with Singer Jennifer Hudson
Target® Corp. (NYSE: TGT) today announced its partnership with GRAMMY and Academy® Award-winning singer and actress Jennifer Hudson for the exclusive, deluxe edition of her second studio album, I Remember Me. The deluxe edition, including four additional new songs and bonus video material, will be available only at Target stores nationwide and on Target.com beginning March 22.
“Creating this album was an amazing, personal journey for me,” said Hudson. “It is especially meaningful to be able to share more of my music with my fans on the Target deluxe edition of I Remember Me.”
The Target deluxe edition of the album includes the title track, “I Remember Me,” which is based on a poem written by Hudson and composed into a song co-written by Ryan Tedder. Additional tracks include: “Where You At” (Dave Audé Remix); “The Star Spangled Banner” (live); “What You Think” and “Spotlight,” an Afroganic Remix. Twenty-five minutes of bonus video footage includes an inside look at Hudson’s album cover photo shoot, and behind-the-scenes footage of the making of I Remember Me, including commentary from Hudson on her inspiration for the new album.

Bilal, preeminent vocalist and songwriter was nominated for Best Urban/Alternative Performance for the 53rd Annual Grammy Awards for “Little One” from his third studio album, Airtight’s Revenge, which was released September 14 through Plug Research Music and Distributed by The Orchard.
“Little One”, a smooth track with a soulful sound is dedicated to his sons. “My youngest son has Sickle Cell and my oldest son has Autisim. This song is for them”, stated Bilal.
