Well, in another blog post of mine about this kid Matt Barkley of USC, I spoke of how I felt he was the best and most ready NFL QB as a true freshman at USC. He proved it last night in the Emerald Bowl in San Francisco’s ATT Park by lifting USC over Boston College 24-13. I evaluate talent at Nike Combines for college so I see many quarterbacks at an elite level. This kid has always impressed me since he was at Mater Dei in Southern California. I’ve seen talent at Concord DeLaSalle and at some elite high school football programs in Texas as well including L.D. Bell High School, Trinity High School, and Plano High. This kid stood above in my mind out of seeing quarterbacks at all of these programs.

Yes, USC took a hit and started losing some games at the end of the season, however, Matt Barkley is pro football ready and will do well in the NFL in about 3 years provided he stays healthy. To show that type of poise in big games at 18 or 19 years of age is super incredible. And just for the record, I am NOT a USC fan. In fact, my friend was a tailback at USC and we went to the Cal Berkeley game together and I was NOT fond of USC fans at that game at all. Just for the record.
