The Black Business Guide to LinkedIn Success

He went on to tell me how he swears by Linkedin and how many connections he made on the social yet business website.

LinkedIn sits idly by collecting dust for most individuals. About two years ago, a business associate asked me if my profile was on LinkedIn. I said no and didn’t think anything about it. He went on to tell me how he swears by Linkedin and how many connections he made on the social yet business website. I decided to try and see for myself what it does thinking it would give me some sort of huge advantage to grow my technology consulting business since technology services were in a slump.

Putting gas in the tank of LinkedIn

Putting gas in the tank of LinkedIn

I jumped on it. I took the time to upload all positions that I had done to provide services to America’s leading technology and consumer brand companies. You name it, I worked it: Apple Computer, Lucas Arts and Entertainment (makers of Star Wars), Sun Microsystems, Oracle, Verizon, etc. I was excited and with the economy being so low with hard to come by contracts anymore, I felt excited that this would now give me the inside track to decision makers who would see my resume and their eyes would pop out when they saw all of these big names on my LinkedIn profile. PLEASE! All EGO!

I waited for the first week thinking people would do a search, come across my profile, and my phone would be ringing off the hook with contract offers. I gave it another week. Maybe it takes a month. Nothing happened. So, as a former division 1 quarterback, I decided I would use my aggressive tactics and go after people instead of sitting passively waiting for them to find me the way I had grown my business in the Silicon Valley to over $100,000 per month in revenue. In those days, I never marketed my technology service business at all. I was a handful of people who knew the technology worldwide. Business came to me.

I joined groups that were directly in my niche offering. I then started discussions in my group where people didn’t really talk much. This simple act of becoming a non-passive communicator in these group discussions and leading discussions branded me as a thought leader. Once I became a thought leader, my reputation started to grow beyond the corporations listed on my resume. Once the reputation grew, business connects were now drawn to me and I started to grow the business itself.

This Is A Full Media Online Marketing Assault

Our cumulative September ’09 sweeps numbers are an astounding 10,799 total click throughs/reads.

Spinks Industries September 2009 sweeps numbers are in and have just been compiled. The results are staggering and proves that an aggressive marketing plan gets results. We measure results by clicks and actual reads of web stories. We did not factor in impressions. Impressions are valuable because this tells you how many people saw the title but we measure success in actual click throughs to the site and/or reads.

Spinks September 2009 numbers were 10,799 Total Click Throughs

Spinks September 2009 numbers were 10,799 Total Click Throughs

Our WordPress stories received 2,706 click throughs for the month of September. Our Spinks Industries articles received 968 Page Views for the month of September with visitors showing up from the USA, Canada, India, the UK, The Netherlands, Belgium, Singapore, Australia, Indonesia, and Mexico. The average web visitor stayed on our site for 3 minutes and 38 seconds up from 90 days ago where they stayed for an average of 10 seconds.

Our Atlanta Examiner stories were read 6,850 times where the average amount of reads in the Business and Finance section of the newspaper for the month is 1,135. Our Ezinearticles were read 275 times. Our cumulative September ’09 sweeps numbers are an astounding 10,799 total click throughs/reads.

This proves that email marketing is dead and completely ineffective for doing any sort of marketing or brand awareness. In comparison, we delivered 1,000 emails to a highly targeted niche that we service in the Government market. Only 2 people clicked through and read the email. What is the moral? Google Wave will most likely destroy email which is a blessing and a great thing and you must put a full court press team together to get true marketing results.

Bank of America CEO Finally Leaving His Post

Kenneth D. Lewis should have been fired long ago. Bank of America’s executives have been joyriding, yachting, and living luxuriously for quite some time while they put increasing pressure on American citizens and remove jobs and send them to India.

The CEO of Bank of America, Kenneth D. Lewis, is leaving his post as of the end of 2009. After betting Bank of America’s future on the housing market that collapsed, this guy is finally giving up the reigns and leaving in December.

Bank of America bought Countrywide and Merrill Lynch and subsequently ended losing tons of money in the housing market debacle.

While Bank of America received bailout funds to help it stay afloat, it continues to harrass homeowners who cannot pay their mortgages due to job losses and ironically, Bank of America is one of the firms who is aggressively outsourcing most of it’s core business functions to India and other countries to lower expenses. The bank is continually trying to lower costs which means lowering it’s tax basis and lowering the wages of it’s workers.

Under Kenneth D. Lewis, bank shares have dropped in value and the bank reduced it’s quarterly dividend to 1 cent from 64 cents for shareholders in 2008 and shares are 33% lower than in April of 2001 when Lewis became the CEO. The Standard & Poor’s 500 Index declined 14 percent during the same period. The stock closed yesterday at $16.92 on the New York Stock Exchange.

“Their loan portfolio is horrible looking and it’s not going to be easy for them,” Mike Williams, research director at Gradient Analytics in Scottsdale, Arizona, said in an interview before Lewis announced his departure. “They would have been better off without the Merrill and Countrywide acquisitions over the next few years.”

Kenneth D. Lewis should have been fired long ago. Bank of America’s executives have been joyriding, yachting, and living luxuriously for quite some time while they put increasing pressure on American citizens and remove jobs and send them to India. Bank of America has people stressed out, collection calls happening everyday, and has people jumping off bridges all over the United States while corporations in India are having a great time reveling in the glory of getting new jobs and new business from America.

Black America Wealth Planning

The key, which people heavily overlook and simply do not like to do, is to write it down and hold your self accountable to your own plan. You don’t need a bunch of business books telling you this.

Share

Getting started building wealth is about making a plan, creating a goal, and executing your plan on a daily, weekly, and/or monthly basis. Whatever your wealth objective is; create a plan. If you’d like to earn $1,000 in the next month, write down that goal and create a plan to help you get to that goal. If you’d like to earn $4 Million per year, write it down as a goal and develop a strategic plan in writing to get you to that point. Your plan will serve as your navigational map and will get you up and out of your present situation.

Your plan needs to correspond to where you are in your life right now. If you are young, in your teenage years, and want to buy a car, you should start with a small plan. Sometimes it may be unrealistic for you to buy a car when you are 16, 17, or even 25 so you’ve got to go with a realistic plan that will help you get to that ultimate goal.

Create a plan that details how you will earn enough income to afford the monthly payments, the insurance, and gas. Get a job on the side that pays you enough to clear these expenses so that you can afford to buy and keep the car. If you have a plan to go to college but have no idea how you’re going to get there, write down the goal and begin to scour the Internet for grants and loans that will help you get into college. If the United States government has money for a war, it has money set aside for you to attend college regardless of how much or how little money your parents make.

If your goal is to earn $250,000 annually, again, write this down on paper or on the computer so that it is documented and write down a plan to get there. The plan will have to include much more than just getting the job that will pay you $50,000 per year. But, the job is at least a start. Now you need to lay down the strategic plan to make up the additional $200,000 in income annually. The plan needs to include options on generating income in other ways and must be highly realistic. Maybe some additional income comes from being a Google Affiliate Network marketer or a Market Leverage affiliate marketer that you operate as a side hustle.

The key, which people heavily overlook and simply do not like to do, is to write it down and hold your self accountable to your own plan. You don’t need a bunch of business books telling you this. You need to write the plan down and then actualize the plan and be accountable to your own plan. Don’t let yourself slack. You owe it to yourself to make the plan and the dream work. It’s all you have in this crazy economy.

How To Make Money On Facebook

After getting the visitors, it’s up to my web site to provide relevant and engaging content to keep the 2,000 visitors interested in what I’m selling. This is the key to the monetization.

Share

Facebook has figured out how to monetize itself from a corporate standpoint but the real question is to the entrepreneur. How do you make money from Facebook or is it just a Uber Friend Network? I’ve talked to some friends who say they could care less and that they just want to use the social media site to share their personal lives and photos. I’ve talked to some other friends who rarely use it anymore after the initial excitement of reconnecting with friends and family. Why did they slow down and stop using it as much?

The Underground Millionaire News Network

The Underground Millionaire News Network

Entrepreneurs want to use networks to earn income and put things on autopilot to make residual and passive income, period. No business owner wants to have a Facebook fan page and no one is really using it or coming to it. So, it begs the question “How do you make money from Facebook for a small business or entrepreneur?”

After testing several scenarios, I have come up with only one real viable solution to the Facebook user to make money and that is by running ads to reach your targeted customers. There’s really no other way to monetize this social network for yourself without advertising spend happening. I setup 7 different ad campaigns and funneled roughly 2,000 visitors to my web properties based upon the advertisement.

After getting the visitors, it’s up to my web site to provide relevant and engaging content to keep the 2,000 visitors interested in what I’m selling. This is the key to the monetization. Place the ad on Facebook, target relevant potential customers in a certain demographic, funnel them to your website, provide rich content on your website that interests them more than just a picture of your face, your product that your selling, or your affiliate links.

Google Wave Just Another Social Network

We need Google Wave to be on our website and when visitors browse our website, jump on Google Wave and ask questions about our services or our products to increase customer interaction.

Share

Google Wave software in the browser is touting itself as the next cool application to replace email. Yes, email is outdated and was developed 40 years ago. Yes, I’m way tired of over 70% of my email messages are marketing and spam messages. I would like to just close my email box and only use Google Wave to communicate. But this, just like other Social Media applications, is just for being social and talking to people about your wedding and when are you going to Chicago.

Google Wave

Google Wave

What business people want, like me, is a way to make business connections and build true customers via social networks. I love being able to connect to past friends via Facebook. I love being able to tell people that my dog pee’d on the floor this morning on Twitter and I love blasting people with my latest music via bulletins on Myspace but the question for all of us entrepreneurs is “Does it make me money?”

Business people do not have time for the next social media explosion if it’s just about discussing how to make a cake. Twitter is fading for me because the lack of intrinsic value to my business. When using Twitter to promote, the follower needle barely moves. When using it to discuss nonsense, my follower meter explodes especially if I’m talking about porn or being gay or something ignorant like that. The Twitter spam bots have it on lock and as soon as they see the key word, they follow me immediately. Who cares? Like my business needs a bunch of robots watching what I do!

Pre-Order Diary of a Wimpy Kid

I hope Google Wave lives up to it’s promise of increasing collaboration. I hope that collaboration leads to business growth for the small to medium sized business. What the business entrepreneur needs is a way to find people with like business interests to introduce and pitch their product to legitimately. We need Google Wave to be able to chat with real potential customers and increase the conversation so that they understand our business value and why they can use us.

We need Google Wave to be on our website and when visitors browse our website, jump on Google Wave and ask questions about our services or our products to increase customer interaction. We do not need it to discuss the children’s grades and if we are going to the skating rink on Friday night. This is old and boring. I have my darn phone for that.

The Blueprint of a Reality TV Star

Back in the day, my friend Mohammed Bilal was on MTV’s The Real World. This was literally in the beginning of reality TV. I got a chance to meet the producers of The Real World, Jonathan Murray and Mary Bunim before she died. I also got a chance to see first hand how a reality tv star is made via a character on the show named Puck. This dude Puck was outrageous and really set the tone for today’s reality tv star.

Puck from MTV Real World San Francisco - Blueprint of Reality TV Star

I saw an ad today for a reality tv series being shot in Atlanta and it made me think of the groundbreaking buffoonery that this dude Puck did on MTV’s The Real World San Francisco back in 1994. Today’s ad in Atlanta on Craigslist was saying that they were having auditions and they needed people with BIG personalities. If you were boring, stay at home. It immediately made me think of this dude Puck from back in the day.

The real Puck was a quiet bike messenger in San Francisco. No one told him how to act but he pioneered buffoonery and how to take over a reality series. He had all eyes on him and had the cameras fiending to follow him around all the time. Although in real life he was quiet and reserved, he became a character on the show. He became the BIG personality that we see in today’s reality tv star. He knew that he had to become more than himself. Back in 1994, they offered nobody any money to be on the show and they even went as far as stopping you from even writing a book and making any money on you being on their program.
Pre-Order Diary of a Wimpy Kid
Puck made a strategy as soon as he got selected after the audition. He formulated a plan to be larger than life. To yell, scream, kick, and hate everyone in the room. He would literally walk in the room and just start talking about anyone and everyone. At the time, this was over the top and not too many reality stars knew to do this as a plan. Most people cast for these shows just wanted their normal lives to be captured on television. Puck had a different plan. He wanted to take over the show and the only way to do this is to act like a fool and buffoon.

Today’s reality tv stars pale in comparison to Puck but he created the blueprint for them. This is why people like Nene Leakes know to act ignorant and foolish because she knows the key to survival and long money is to act like a straight up fool and come in the building hating on everyone for no apparent reason. This is what having a BIG personality means in today’s reality tv world. Act ignorant, hateful, and hurtful and you will definitely stand out in a crowd. The blueprint is here.
