Ways To Bootstrap Your Business

How do you start this bootstrapping you might ask? Build a proof of concept of your idea.

Share

“Bootstrapping” is the process of starting a business from scratch without outside funding or capital . In simple terms, a bootstrapped business is self-sufficient from inception and grows incrementally as demand for its product or service increases . Bootstrapping typically requires that the owners or partners invest a modest sum of money (often less than $10,000) in order to launch the business .

Although the ultimate goal may be to build a large business offering diverse products or services, a bootstrapped business will focus first on something that generates immediate cash flow returns, with minimal cost inputs. During a recession (when financing is hard to come by), bootstrapping is not only smart, it is almost a requirement for success. Once a bootstrapped startup builds a loyal client base and brand awareness, it is much easier to raise additional capital, such as loans, grants, and venture investment.

How do you start this bootstrapping you might ask? Build a proof of concept of your idea. In some way, and I don’t have the answer for this, you MUST build a proof of concept that is a model of what your business looks like and runs like. If it will cost you $10,000 to build your proof of concept, you have problems. I recommend people build a low cost proof of concept model that you can actually launch today, right now. You do not want to spend time on something that is outrageous to get off the ground. Get your business launched now without fail.

What Is A Pre-Money Valuation – The Art of Raising Investment Capital

A pre-money valuation is a term used in private equity or venture capital that refers to the valuation of a company or asset prior to an investment or financing.

A pre-money valuation is a term used in private equity or venture capital that refers to the valuation of a company or asset prior to an investment or financing. External investors, such as venture capitalists and angel investors will use a pre-money valuation to determine how much equity to demand in return for their cash injection to an entrepreneur and his or her startup company. For example, if an investor makes a $10 million investment into a company in return for 20% of the company’s equity, the implied post-money valuation is $50 million. To calculate the pre-money valuation, the amount of the investment is subtracted from the post-money valuation. In this case, the implied pre-money valuation is $40 million.

There are several ways to determine valuation for your startup. Know that with most of these methods may be difficult to base on objective facts. At the end of the day you may need to rely on the fairness of your investor to propose a valuation that is consistent with other known “comps” and also consistent with other relative valuations in his/her existing portfolio.

But, getting to this pre-money valuation is tough and YOU MUST build a proof of concept of your idea and PROVE that it can sell. You cannot guess at potential sales in this part of raising money for your business. You must do the tough part of proving that what you sell can actually do that.

The Humble Elite Class

If your body was taken, there would be no success. Humility is the way of the peaceful warrior.

I was talking to a friend last night about what it takes to get success. What it takes to move your life forward and push it to the level that you feel is necessary to truly live out loud. It’s funny because many people close to you will kill your dreams and make you feel like you need to dumb yourself down just to not outshine them and make them feel crazy.

I believe at all costs of losing friends and family, that the path to success lies in surrounding yourself with elite people and doing away with those people who cannot get there or who cannot think like that. But the trick lies in remaining humble while also having a supreme feeling of being elite in whatever you do or focus on. I call this the humble elite. In the rap game, there is no concept of this because people are ignorant. They just want to get success then brag about it all day on record and in a video.

But the people that have unbridled success like Denzel Washington, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, Angela Bassett, Dianne Ashford, Angi Bones, etc have the sincerest form of elitism while also remaining spiritually grounded and humble. They are elite but when they walk in the building you don’t even know they are there.

You can strive to be an elite person but still keep it on the humble. This is what makes a person shine. You give the glory to God and be the vessel by which God is working through you. It is not you. If your body was taken, there would be no success. Humility is the way of the peaceful warrior.

Planting and Shaking A Money Tree Today

The tree takes time to plant, water, and grow. And it will seem longer if you sit there and come outside and attempt to watch the tree grow. You’ve got to plant the seed, trust in God that the watering works, and that it will eventually grow. Life has proven that if you plant the [...]

The tree takes time to plant, water, and grow. And it will seem longer if you sit there and come outside and attempt to watch the tree
grow. You’ve got to plant the seed, trust in God that the watering works, and that it will eventually grow. Life has proven that if
you plant the seed, the tree will grow. This cannot be disputed and is as real as I am sitting here writing this to you right now. It is as real
as you sitting down reading this blog post right now. It is as real as you being on this planet earth and being born to your mama. Plant the seed, water the soil, and wait. Water it each and every day. It will grow.

When your tree starts to grow and you start to see the first signs of growth, do not try to water it faster in hopes that it will grow that much faster. Relax. Let it grow in God’s time. You are already doing your part and have fulfilled your part of the bargain. You planted the seed and you are watering it. Know that this is okay and know that your efforts will be rewarded. Know that everything is designed the way it is supposed to be. Know that the universe will take care of you and take care of your plant. Know that the soil is fertile and that if you have planted it correctly, that it will grow correctly. This part requires faith, belief, and trust in you and in God.

Acquiring any type or form of wealth, no matter what it is requires belief, trust, and faith. You must believe in yourself first and foremost and believe that you have what it takes to achieve your dream and your goal. You must work on this belief system everyday and write it down. You must believe in you. To be honest, no one else will and no one else is supposed to except for your family and sometimes they may not due to whatever circumstance in your life. This will not stop you because you will learn to believe in you. Not arrogantly, but confidently. Belief can sometimes be elusive to us because we are not taught to believe in ourselves. We are taught to believe in somebody else and believe that someone else is ultimately responsible for
our well-being.

This belief is the furthest thing from the truth about us. You must come to know and understand the truth about you and not
believe any lies about you. The truth about you is that you are ultimately responsible for you. No corporation is, no mama is (unless
you are still real young), and no daddy is responsible for you. You are responsible for taking care of you, taking care of your body,
taking care of your mind, taking care of your physical and mental well being.

If you get into trouble, it is up to you to get yourself out of trouble. Don’t be mad; don’t get angry because someone else doesn’t come to
bail you out. You are responsible for you and your dreams and goals. Please believe in yourself and in the power that you can achieve
your dreams. You can and you will. I say this not to discourage you or make you feel like no one cares about you. People care about you.
Your family and friends care about you. Your church family cares about you. God cares about you and loves you. However, having said all of that… no one is responsible for making your dream become a reality except for you. No one can. Your dream is personal to you and you alone. It is a special dream that you have and a special goal. Let the world know about it.

Write It Down Then Execute Unrelentlessly

You should plan to do a review of your goals each year just to see where you fit and what has taken place with your
goals.

Share

Setting your goal will serve as a measure of your success in working the plan overtime and will also be a journal of your achievements and accomplishments. You should plan to do a review of your goals each year just to see where you fit and what has taken place with your
goals. Even if you haven’t achieved anything towards your goal due to circumstances beyond your control, that’s okay. As long as you’ve
written your goal down and done something towards achieving your goal; this is the most important thing that you can take out of this
chapter.

The critical piece in goal setting lies in the execution of meeting the goal. If your overall dream and goal is to make it to a four-year
college or university when no one else in your family has, you must make the plan achievable and do something every day to achieve your
goal. Even if that something is really small, you must ACT and do something, anything towards the achievement of your goal. No matter how small it is; if it’s contacting one person to discuss your plan or making a contact outside of your family, do something. But you must keep your expectations in check during the goal setting phase so that you do not get overwhelmed and hit burn out.

I speak to a lot of people who say that they had a lofty goal but because it was so high, it scared them so they stopped working towards it. I have also met folks who set a goal and because it
didn’t happen in 3 weeks or 2 months, they considered themselves a failure and stopped working at the goal. This person said that they
didn’t have the time necessary to wait on their goal to happen and needed it to happen overnight, similar to what the television stories
will show us.

This is nonsense and is not real. No matter what these rap videos show and what these entertainment shows tell you, no one achieved
the success without setting a goal and without executing certain steps over time to achieve their goal and dream. It did not happen
immediately and in most cases took ten years to really achieve. After ten years, they started flossing and making it seem like it took them
real fast because they consider themselves a whiz kid or something like that.

The Pursuit of Wealth And Happiness #entrepreneur #atlanta

Pursuing wealth is actually something that is not rocket science necessarily although it is hard to achieve.

Pursuing wealth is actually something that is not rocket science necessarily although it is hard to achieve. As long as you know the right ingredients to put together in the pot, you will know how to cook the right gumbo. Wrong ingredients and the gumbo will end up tasting very shitty, bottom-line. Wealth is the same way.

The first ingredient and one of the most critical aspects of creating and building wealth in black communities and inner city communities is learning to simply be about it. Many people talk about what they want to do, what they want to create, how they want to create it, and how they will have it in the future.

Bullshit. Stop talking. In order to build for the future, you need to be about it and stop talking about it. Truly. I run across people everyday or at least weekly that tell me that they have some
idea to create something for themselves or do something real big. But in reality, they don’t do anything to move their dream forward and in fact will start telling other people how to move things forward while they have done absolutely nothing to advance their own dreams/careers or aspirations.

Learn to be about your business instead of talk about your business. Learn to be discrete and stop announcing to the world your business
plans and/or your dreams. Learn to simply do it and be about it and people will respect the shit out of you when you get it done.

The Ballers Guide to MAJOR Figure$ is a step by step guide on creating this business success and the wealth that you need to do two things: pay for your everyday livelihood including your
rent/mortgage, have disposable income (which has been rare in the last several years), and create enough wealth that you can pay for your child to enter into college and actually get a real education in the future.

This book is meant for Americans of all positions along economic income lines. This book is meant for the college student at
Morehouse, Spelman, NYU, and California Berkeley; it is meant for the 24 year old brova or sista who didn’t get a chance to attend college but has street smarts and the desire to improve and change his or her condition; it is meant for the 40 year old who has been at work at the same gig for the last 15 years who would like to be able to purchase a home and afford it easily; it is meant for the 55 year old who is ten years from retirement who needs to have a decent income to sustain their life and have fun from 65-85 years of age.

I encourage the reader to use this book as a tool, as a guide, and as a reference book to refer back to as things change in your life. Good luck and may God, Allah, Jehovah, Yahweh, and the God
within you be with you always on your pursuit to financial wealth, freedom, and prosperity.

The Ballers Guide to MAJOR Figure$

In cities across America, black people are being pushed out of the inner cities where we have traditionally lived and also pushed out of the suburbs in some cases due to the high cost of living in both the inner city and the outer suburbs.

I call this condition “The Gth Condition”. We are pushed out of the inner and out of the outer putting us in the “The Gth Condition” which is where we need to build our own future and our own success in order to survive in 2010 and beyond.

With housing prices in California out of control, what hope is there for our children to own a house in 2010, 2015, and beyond? We need to put a serious plan together to come up or else we as Black Americans and as Americans as a whole are going to simply be pushed out of being to live and succeed in the United States of
America.

Today, there are more immigrants coming to America replacing the average American worker. As Black folks, we have a hard enough
time finding a regular job at a large company and now we are being replaced by foreigners who do the job for cheaper and who have
become the new American workforce and cheap labor pool. It is imperative and demanded that we learn and master how to create money for our own good and not rely upon the typical corporate money flow to create and sustain our livelihood.

In some cases, you will need to create a new you, a different you in order to create and build wealth.

Share

The Ballers Guide to MAJOR Figure$ is a follow up book to my first release “How To Be Rich, Nigga”. The first book spoke generally
about what it takes to become financially wealthy and spoke in general terms about putting a plan in action to do so.

This second body of work dives more into the detail about creating the plan and working a plan to pursue and create wealth for you.
Capturing wealth is not easy, as we all know and is especially difficult for African-Americans since there are many factors in our way economically to even begin to think about the pursuit of wealth.

Many of our families have taught us historically that money is the root of all evil. In fact, my mother taught me this and would use church to re-enforce this fact of hers. I don’t fault my moms and don’t fault anyone who thinks like this because to a certain extent money does not create happiness. I have learned this lesson first
hand as well.

In some cases, you will need to create a new you, a different you in order to create and build wealth. You will need to come to know and
believe that wealth is necessary while we are living on this planet to sustain ourselves and make a decent life for ourselves here in America.

At all costs, make your dream happen because your dream is important. It is vitally important to you as a human being, to your spirit, and to your God. Your dream is important to your family, your children, your brother, your sister, your moms, your pops, and whomever whether they are living or not. Your dream means something and your ideas mean something to people. Please share them and do not keep yourself the best-kept secret. Your dreams will
motivate me and will drive me to continue to write, think, act, and do.

Continue to go to school even if you don’t think it really matters right now to anyone. It matters to God and to somebody that you cannot see right now. Someone wants you to touch them and reach out to them even if you do not know it and even if you are in a crazy relationship or situation right now. Share yourself and your
thoughts and dreams. Your dream has power. Please believe it.

Word of caution: be careful with the advice that some people give you in achieving your dream. Some people who actually think that they are giving you advice, will tell you that your dream has no power and doesn’t have a market. I was on a website the other day of another African-American writer who discouraged people from
writing their own personal story because he said that people do not care about the average persons story.

This advice is absolutely ridiculously stupid. Everyone’s story is important, has credence, and has power. Point is, do not listen to everyone who tells you that they have good advice just because they’ve so called been there before. Most people cannot see the forest through the trees for their own life and certainly cannot advise other people on anything. Be careful with listening to
others when you tell them your idea. Had I told anybody about this book prior to writing it, most would have laughed and said it was a stupid idea and that no one would buy it. So, listen but don’t listen to everybody. Press forward with the belief in God and belief in yourself. This will ultimately propel you forward during the dark times when it seems that no one else is listening to you and
checking in with you.
