My great friend Thembisa S. Mshaka has been nominated for a Shorty Award. I encourage you to do two things: vote for her for this shorty award and read her book “Put Your Dreams First”. I was one of the first people to buy this book and it is packed with knowledge and information for anyone in the entertainment industry and especially the ladies.
It’s a must read book.

It is interesting to see the photo that Vanity Fair decided to run on Tiger Woods this month. I wonder if they would have run that had this latest debacle happened in his life and everything was smooth? I’m sure they did lots of different photos and wardrobe changes but in light of this domestic situation and the loss of sponsors, it appears to me that Vanity Fair decided to make him look rougher and tougher in the image of a menacing black man.
Tiger should have embraced us from the beginning and now he’s seeing how the majority race in America truly feels about us when things fall apart. You’re only good while you’re keeping their money flowing. Once you cross the line, corporate America puts you out on front street.
If you have a good 60 minutes, this interview with Rainforest Films’ CEO and Filmmaker, Will Packer, will not only inspire your creativity but it will really put you up on game and how to go from nothing to a whole lot of something. Director Rob Hardy and Producer William Packer created Rainforest Films in 1994, on the eve of the success of their first film Chocolate City. Shortly thereafter, the duo began producing a myriad of corporate pieces as their film was distributed to video stores.
One of their most successful projects, Stomp The Yard (Sony/Screen Gems), grossed over $65 million dollars and held the #1 position at the box office for two weekends in January of 2007. Later that year the company produced This Christmas (Sony/Screen Gems), which made $50 million dollars. The success of both projects landed the duo amongst the Top 25 Entertainers and Moneymakers according to Black Enterprise Magazine (January 2008).
