Building your brand on the Internet is not just reserved for consumer brand giants. Twitter is not the tool to use for an all out media assault on brand management either. Analyzing Twitter for traffic this week alone for my site shows and proves that Twitter generates only one link per day of traffic to my website. So, all in all, tweeting is really just like the Verizon Wireless commercial when the dad is tweeting outside and his son is tired of him tweeting nonsense. Twitter will not help build web traffic.
I don’t care what your brand is, who you work for, or what you do, you should forever be selling your personal brand. Social media sites have proven this as well. I have put my resume on LinkedIn and it sat there for a year doing absolutely nothing until I started writing and becoming a thought leader on LinkedIn.
So, how to grow your personal brand on the Internet? How do you get seen and heard and increase web traffic and most importantly, how do you measure that traffic and consider it a success? Especially for the urban minority community and black enterprise?
I consult with many different types of people in my day to day business management consulting operation. When I say different types I mean it. From software developers, to public relations company owners, to songwriters, to scriptwriters, to book writers, to real estate agents, to actors. And, the resounding theme that I’m noticing is in personal brand development and the lack thereof.
You MUST look at yourself as a brand more than ever RIGHT NOW. Whether you have a resume on LinkedIn or a small business website from Yahoo Small Business, or a Google website. You need to do what a brand marketer does. Get yourself out there on the Internet and measure your success every single week. You must become an authority and a writer and begin to write about what you do and present that to people every day.
Mainstream America is already up on this and has mastered Internet brand management for years. Now, the urban community and the community at large MUST understand this concept immediately or perish. If you’re an Atlanta spa owner for example, you should set up an account at Ezine and start writing daily about the different products that you offer at your spa as well as talk about the different services that you offer. Without fail, this should be written about daily or every other day as an article that is published on the Internet in what is known as article marketing.
After you create your articles, review your statistics and watch what people are reading and how they are clicking on your website. Make sure you have a blog site from WordPress or a true website all your own that you can run Google analytics on each day. In one week’s time, my articles have been viewed 4,540 times this week alone from September 6, 2009 – September 10, 2009 and the week is not over yet. This builds credibility and your authority on business matters. It eclipses what you can do on Twitter.
I created this tagline when I launched my blog last summer in California. Why? As a writer, I want to be informative and trustworthy to my audience. To date, this blog has been read over 35,000 times by various people across the world. It is an extremely fulfilling honor to have people read what I have to say all over the world. It is also a considerable responsibility to provide accurate and best in class information to my readership.
I take this very serious as a writer and I thank you for your support. I will always provide trustworthy and valuable information to you whether that information is about celebrities, business, or education. I want you to become a regular reader and ultimately turn you into a customer because you see the value in what I do and get value from these words.
The UndagroundMilli will always give back by providing concrete information and expert writing and analysis on a wide range of topics. That is my personal commitment to you, my readers. Thank you so much for the time that you take out of your day to read this blog.

You have a brand that you have built. You want to market it on the Internet and mobile phones. This can be dual costs to develop this if you’re not careful. You do NOT necessarily have to build a mobile phone application separately from your Internet website if you build it on PhP technology which is mobile phone optimized and Internet optimized.
What the hell does that mean? To save costs, you need to build your site one time and leverage it across the Internet and the mobile Phone. Your site must be PhP enabled so that when someone goes to it on their blackberry, Iphone, or HTC Hero, it does not crash the phone because you have so many images/music, graphics or whatever on the site.
Just 2 short years ago, people developed an Internet version of their website and a mobile phone version of their website incurring two costs. Not so anymore. Build once and leverage is the name of the game. Unless you specifically want an iPhone application that is targeted to your fan base only. This is a different requirement and this does have different costs models associated with it so that the user clicks on your brand on their iPhone and sees your content only.

Getting advertisers for your blog is not that difficult with the hundreds of affiliate marketing companies that are out there. I personally found out through direct experience with this blog and my other sites that getting advertisers is easy. There are thousands of companies who want you to market their products on your blog and split a commission with you, however, the best brands want brand influencers and will payout better for the better blogs.
How do they know which blog is better than the next one? One key indicator is traffic to your website. If your traffic is low, the major brands typically will not consider you to sell their products. This is why focusing on traffic is the single most important effort of any website. No traffic, no advertisers. No advertisers, no money.
We focus on beautiful clean design with the true focus being on attracting traffic to our clients’ sites. Each and every single one of my clients mission is to increase quality traffic in their specific niche markets so that they increase the value of their brand and ultimately increase sell through of anything that they do.
Make sure you add content regularly in order to increase the flow of web traffic and ensure that your site is fully Search Engine Optimized. If it is not, you will never build traffic.
