Successful pass routes are a combination of reads between the quarterback and the receiver. The quarterback reads the defense and the receiver has two or potentially three option routes to run based upon what the defense gives at the line of scrimmage.
The NFL is about changes and the most successful quarterbacks and receivers are fully in sync with the routes. When interceptions are thrown, it’s usually because the quarterback thought the receiver was running a certain “hot” route and the receiver thought the quarterback was throwing to another hot route destination.
