The impact of education on your wealth can be immense. First of all, let me define what I think education is. Education is not always institutional and achieved by reading assigned text by a teacher
in a high school or university. Education can be gathered on the street and by listening and learning about other people from their stories.

I do not advocate dropping out of high school or college however and do believe that getting an education is good just from a standpoint of meeting new people and getting influenced positively to do and create new things.

Without an education of some sort, ninjas are left out in the cold relying upon the military for a job and being subjected to going to war, fighting for some country you know nothing about, and having the military pay for your college if you can return alive from going to war.

It is very important that you get some sort of education and complete this education in order to get ahead in this United States society. You must learn something to add value. You don’t
necessarily need a college degree for this education. But you need to learn something that you can turn around and sell to somebody else that is valuable. You can learn how to become a sound engineer by going to volunteer and a sound engineering studio for free and learning how to work the boards. You can go to a film editing
company and volunteer your time and learn how to edit films using an Apple G5 computer and all of the editing software on these computers.

The new war is one of money and power. Everyone knows this bullshit except for us black folks sometimes. The game is about cash and not just cash now. The game is about long-term cash and holding down your cash for the long haul. Black folks need to learn this game now and forever more.

Everybody wants us to join the military, go overseas and fight someone who didn’t do shit to a nicca in East Oakland, South Chicago, Detroit, Bankhead, Decatur, The Bronx, or wherever. So,
keep your mind right. Negative influences are all around us every day. Negative influences are within the economy, the media, our families, and our friends. I’m not saying to diss yo family or any of that. Just keep your mind right. If someone says that they don’t think you can achieve your dream, don’t get mad, just keep
praying for guidance and for courage to keep dreaming but at the same time, keep executing on your dream.

Negativity must be countered by positivity within your self. For every negative action that happens to you, make a positive move three times to counter this affect. Use prayer and meditation to clear the negativity away from you and push this negative energy out of your cipher.

I’m also not saying to be all peaced out and wanting the world to be all peace around you in order to achieve. No dawg. I can get pissed off and go off all day on someone for tryin’ to salt my game. But no
worries, I come back and handle my business and keep writing. So, I don’t let all this societal and mental bullshit knock me off my game.
Sometimes it can try to penetrate but I stay prayed up and brush this shit off. I admit that this is a daily type of thing though as negative shit can try to appear to you everyday if you let it.

The trick is to minimize the negative stuff that impacts you and increase the positive stuff into your life. This is not easy depending upon your circumstances of ghetto life and ill type of shit
that is happening in your world. Again, I feel you. I understand, appreciate, and relate to what is happening in your world. But, at the same time, I believe that good is happening to you and me
right now. As I put these words out there to the universe right now, someone will read this, get inspired, and change their lives today. I know that good is happening to you and me today as you and I read this book. I believe in you and your ability to excel, exceed, and make your dream happen. I know that you have the power to achieve your dream, to reach your dream, and execute on your dream regardless of your financial situation today.

I know that your dreams will become manifest and that God is working to make all of your dreams become a reality now and forever more.

Minority Business Success Starts with a plan

How does the small nimble minority business succeed in such a large space? Well, the first thing to know is that the Federal and State government has set aside programs for minority business.

Creating true wealth in the United States for minorities and specifically for black owned businesses start with creating a sick tight plan of attack and a strategy on how to make money. Obviously, in these harsh economic times this is a seemingly tall order but it can be done. Business is tough to come by for everybody but one place that people sometimes overlook is the government market.

There are many tall tales about the government spending billions of dollars on contracts but what people do not tell you is that most of these contracts are with large prime goverment contractors such as Lockheed Martin and others.

Gerard Spinks' business guide

Gerard Spinks' business guide

This doesn’t mean that you will easily sign your business up with the small business association and start making tons of money. Been there done that.

I set up my minority business as a government contractor in 1998 in the San Francisco Bay Area. Went to all the meetings with the SBA in downtown San Francisco. Got registered as a MBE Minority Business Enterprise, a small disadvantaged business, and a 8A contractor. I thought the money would start pouring in to my account as I would easily win government contracts. Not so and far from the truth of even what the SBA tells you.

My company, Spinks Industries, took years of hustlin’ to come up on the government market and learned one major thing after working with a partner firm to grow their business to $35 million in contracts; you must create a business plan and provide it to the SBA to become an 8A contractor and you must learn to write business proposals and respond to requests for proposals from agencies. No easy task because the proposal writing process itself is tedious and requires expertise across a number of disciplines.

A Black Kids’ Guide to Business Success

I would succeed if it killed me. I would make a million dollars. I would claim it and I would actualize it at all costs in the San Francisco Bay Area. I would be successful with out you, my pops.

Gerard Spinks’ Open Letter to a black father who I’ve seen once in my life:

A Black Kids Guide to business success

A Black Kids Guide to business success

Dear Dad Pops,

I’m sure you are a good dude. If you’ve ever seen a black man become successful in life and the Internet, you’re looking at him right here. I was surprised when my moms showed me pictures of me that I had signed when I was my daughters age around 7 or 8. Yes, I was the one looking real geeky studly and interesting at St. Philomena’s elementary school in Peoria, Illinois. I don’t know how my moms got me to sign those pictures because I never saw you.

I vaguely remember seeing you once when I was getting ready to go off to college to St. Ambrose College University in Davenport, Iowa. Moms never had any money so she sent me off to St. Ambrose with $20, a skillet, and a bag of clothes. Yes, she expected me to do well but she had nothing else to offer. Wish you were there. Actually, at St. Phil’s, being around all these white kids, everyone had a dad. It used to make me feel real crazy that you weren’t there but their dads were at the basketball games and taking them to play JFL (Junior Football League) that some call Pop Warner Football.

I always longed for a dad especially as I started playing sports and doing well average in high school. Some of the white kids really hated on me and even the coaches didn’t want to see me succeed because I was black. If I could only tell them that my dad was there and supported me, it probably wouldn’t have been so tough and hard on your son. At any rate, I had to fight through this nonsense, the hatred, the dissing, and somehow make a success of myself. Moms told me to just keep playing and stop listening to everyone.

How to do this I have no idea. Really could have used your help and guidance. Moms didn’t did know exactly how but she did. She already had two boys, I was her youngest so she did have some experience. Anyway, I learned how to be successful without you. It was hard. A lot of blood, sweat, and tears. While at Texas, I really needed help and called mom for some money. She couldn’t help. She had none. She never had money She had God and that was all we needed. Even though some of the kids in high school thought we were doing well because I had success in football, we were broke we had cash flow issues, always. Forever on food stamps Forever relying on God’s grace and power. It was our secret though.

When I called out for help to moms and wishing you could help, I realized in that moment that no one could help me God was guiding me and taking over. I realized that I was raised in a situation where I could count on no one other than myself for success God. I realized as a very young kid that it was up to me and only me God to succeed. Yes, pops, this kind of sucked because other people around me had help. They could go home and get help. I couldn’t. I vowed at this moment to turn my life around and be the success that I envisioned and that I saw all these white kids have. Their parents literally sent them to the University of Notre Dame. They made sure they went to great colleges and universities in the midwest. My moms made sure I knew how to apply for food stamps be successful by listening and relying on God. I would do it. I would succeed if it killed me. I would make a million dollars. I would claim it and I would actualize it at all costs in the San Francisco Bay Area. I would be successful with out you, my pops by putting God first and having faith and belief in what God had created, ME.

Underground Millionaire

I came from NO MONEY, made a ton of money in the Silicon Valley, lost money, and made money again.

Market Survival Book

Market Survival Book

Wanted to introduce my fans to author Gerard Spinks. I am a writer and publisher of all of my book titles. I have written three seminal writings “How To Be Rich, Nicca”, “The Ballers Guide to Major Figure$”, and “The Poor Mans Guide to the Rich Mans World”.

All of my titles are self-help books designed for the urban entrepreneur. My books are designed for the inner city, urban person who is very entrepreneurial and needs to know exactly how to bootstrap their business and make money out of very hard conditions and situations.

Why are these books focused on the inner city?  I grew up in the inner city.  I grew up with just my mother and my siblings.  I grew up on food stamps and welfare checks.  I became a millionaire without all of the things that everyone said that I needed as a kid.  I did NOT do this with a strong father figure and with a trust fund.  I made money from super hard work, a super belief in God, a super MOTHER, and a super EFFORT to succeed.

I learned how to put the right people around me to get to my goals.  I learned how to goal set and actualize those goals with the help of God.  I am NOW giving that back to the inner city and all of my fans.  I came from NO MONEY, made a lot of money in the Silicon Valley as a software developer of XML software, lost a lot of money when the market tanked, and climbed back up the hill to make money again and still building.

The Floyd Mayweather Jr. you thought you knew

Floyd Mayweather Foundation’s mission statement is: To empower and encourage community alliances, impact youth leadership, and strengthen family foundations through construction, entrepreneurialism and education resulting in a healthier community. The foundation’s focus is on health and wellness, economic growth and development, and youth education.

Many people think they know the public persona of Money Mayweather. People think because they see him on tv rollerskating through his mansion on HBO that he’s a prude and only cares about money and himself. This is far from the truth as Floyd Mayweather Jr. is, like most successful multi-milionaires, a master at personal branding and public relations. He knows that people will flock to him if he talks crazy and flaunts around like he doesn’t care about anything except money. This is so far from the real Floyd Mayweather Jr. it’s not even funny.

Floyd Mayweather Foundation gives back to the community

Floyd Mayweather Foundation gives back to the community

The real Pretty Boy Floyd is a saint and has the heart of a true champion and giving person. The Floyd Mayweather Foundation’s mission statement is: To empower and encourage community alliances, impact youth leadership, and strengthen family foundations through construction, entrepreneurialism and education resulting in a healthier community. The foundation’s focus is on health and wellness, economic growth and development, and youth education. The Mayweather Foundation will create conditions where residents of all economic levels are able to achieve their maximum health and wellness potential and reduce threats to quality of life related to greater urbanization among other social responsibilities.

The bottom line is that before anyone judge’s Money Mayweather, I encourage all to take a deeper look Beyond the Bling to see what’s really going on and how he really impacts the community at large. Yes, Floyd Money Mayweather is young, black, and famous and YES he cares about the well being of the community at large.

LONDON, ENGLAND – DECEMBER 15: Daredevil motorcyclist Robbie Knievel attends a photocall at The Hospital Club on December 15, 2009 in London, England. Son of Evel Knievel, Robbie Knievel, announced plans to make a record attempt to beat his father’s failed attempt in 1975, and jump across 16 double-decker buses in London on May 22, 2010. I have to give it to this guy Robbie Knieval and his pops Evel Knieval. These dudes GO HARD and are not afraid to at least attempt the impossible.

Here’s video of his father, Evel Knieval’s, original stunt from 1975.

Kimbo Slice Is A Total Sham

Kimbo Slice is a total and complete sham and should retire from any MMA fights. He should think of another way to raise and feed his six kids.

Whenever I used to watch this ghetto street fighter named Kimbo Slice fight in back alleys on the Internet via Youtube, I would always question the ability of his opponent. I watched him fight a police officer who had ground game and as soon as the fight went to the ground, they stopped the fight and brought it to Kimbo’s strength of standing up trading blow to blow.

Supposed MMA fighter Kimbo Slice

Supposed MMA fighter Kimbo Slice

Any real fighter would tell you that to cater to a fighter’s strength only is not real fighting. Yes Kimbo Slice is a tough dude. Yes, he can beat the average cat in the club that’s rushing the talent he is hired to protect. Yes, he can beat the crap out of the dude in the backyard in Miami. But, to sell us on the fact that he could really fight was a joke.

I don’t think anyone in any real fight circles ever thought he could fight. His image was tough and gruesome on Youtube when he became a street phenom. Now, Dana White is painting this dude as a family man with six kids to support at home. This is a joke and Kimbo Slice is a joke to any real Mixed Martial Arts fighter or fan. I don’t want to see someone get knocked out in 14 seconds by another dude with pink hair like Kimbo Slice did.

I have watched MMA since my good friend Adisa Banjoko hipped me to it with the Gracie brothers way back in the early 1990s. We would watch this at my home in East Oakland and at Adisa’s home in San Bruno like religion. We were glued to the screen and would have friends over to watch these fights not because of the blood and gore but because we were impressed with Royce Gracie and his whole entire family and Gracie Jiu Jitsu.

We are devout MMA fans because of skill and talent not because someone can beat the crap out of someone in the streets. We are fans of Willy Cahill in San Bruno, California because Mr. Cahill is the best in the world and trains the best fighters in the world. Kimbo Slice is a total and complete sham and should retire from any MMA fights. He should think of another way to raise and feed his six kids.

Avoiding Internet Crimes and Scandals

They sent her a due diligence sheet that outlined what she needed in order for them to invest. She also received an official term sheet from Barclay’s Bank in London with their seal on it saying that she was approved for $950,000.

In this day and age, anyone can hide behind a computer and pretend to be the Executive of the Year dishing out Executive Orders like they are President Obama. I recently interviewed a woman from Boston, Massachusetts who lost her entire life savings to an Internet Crime Syndicate from Nigeria. Before you cast stones and say how careless this poor lady was, listen to her story and how she got sucked into one of the greatest Internet crime stories in history.

Beware Internet Crimes and Scandals promising Riches and Wealth

Beware Internet Crimes and Scandals promising Riches and Wealth

Maude and her husband James had worked all their lives. They were savers and regularly saved 20% of their income since they were in their 20′s. After 40 years of work, they had a nice little nest egg saved up for retirement and planned on moving to Florida to retire and leave the cold Boston winters behind. They deserved it. They lived a simple life. Had two kids who are grown now and saved over $250,000 in cash.

They knew they wanted their money to grow and while James was still working for the final year and a half at his job, Maude decided to attempt to try to grow their nest egg into something more sizable that they could live off off for at least 20 more years, God willing. Maude decided to use a venture capital networking site via the Internet that she figured she trusted due to their reputation or what she thought was a good reputation.

She put out her executive summary and was surprised when an investor reached out to her saying he was with a UK investment firm and loved her business plan. He said he wanted to invest. She was excited and really wanted to put her money into good use and start making passive income and building more wealth with her hard earned savings.

The UK firm sent her a term sheet within a week after they reviewed her business plan and did their due diligence. They sent her a due diligence sheet that outlined what she needed in order for them to invest. She also received an official term sheet from Barclay’s Bank in London with their seal on it saying that she was approved for $950,000. The UK Investment firm made arrangement to fly to Boston, Massachusetts to meet up with her and close the deal.

She told her husband James and he was excited too. She wanted to surprise him and hold off on telling him until all documents were proven official. She sent the term sheet, offer letter, and due diligence sheets to her lawyer of 30 years and he blessed the documents coming from Barclay’s Bank as legitimate and official. The UK firm scheduled the day they were supposed to meet in Boston.

The day of their meet up, the UK Investment firm called and said they could not make it and that she needed to wire $5,000 to London so that they could finish the financing. At this point, she was so excited about the money that she wired it to them without hesitation as they gave her an escrow company to wire it to. (to be continued)
